Having developed a national reputation for her precisely thrown porcelain vessels, Ms. Weinberg-Benson’s most recent work is a marked departure in material and form. She has taken the pastel drawings off the surface of her slick vessels and teapots and carved them in three dimensions from industrial clay brick. In this new body of work she continues to explore the themes that have consistently informed her work: the dichotomy of relationships and self, the stages we continue to emerge from as humans, the many directions in which we are continually pulled and the joy we experience from simple pleasures.
